About Us
Geosciences Design Group is a full-service, engineering/consulting
firm practicing in the broad field of geosciences. From our headquarters in
Nashville, Tennessee we serve clients on a national and international basis and
are a major provider of geotechnical engineering, material testing, and site
evaluation services in Middle Tennessee and the Southeast. Consequently, we are
experienced, capable and qualified to perform engineering and consulting
services within our fields of expertise over a broad geographic area including
most of the States and some foreign countries. Each person on our team is
dedicated to the concepts of superior customer service and
value-engineering. Because of our beliefs in those concepts, we have been
privileged to work for such clients as Nissan Motor Manufacturing, BellSouth
Communications, Proctor and Gamble, Hospital Corporation of America and many
more.
Typical assignments include foundation design studies for large structures,
investigations of slope stability, treatment of sinkholes and other geologic
hazards, preliminary geotechnical and environmental assessments for development
property, failure investigations and forensic engineering.
An important service is the execution of pre-acquisition environmental site
assessments (PSA’s) and building condition surveys. Our personnel
perform PSA’s for sites in many different geologic and cultural settings. Often
we combine the environmental assessment of a property with other related
services, such as a foundation design study for a proposed building. The
diversified experience of our engineers and geologists allows us to offer basic,
site-related environmental services efficiently and economically, especially
when combined with a routine geotechnical scope of service. All of our PSA’s are
conducted by engineers or geologists trained in the recognition of potential
environmental hazards. Some of our assignments include the assessment of
existing buildings and involve testing for asbestos and lead-based paints.
In addition to professional engineering and consulting, an important part of our
business involves construction monitoring and materials testing. These
services are provided primarily as a follow up to our geotechnical
investigations and provide a means of assurance that construction is completed
in accordance with project specifications. Construction monitoring is provided
by an experienced, well-seasoned technical staff managed by senior level
professionals. Our well-equipped, in-house laboratory has the tools and
apparatus needed for properly testing the components of construction, such as
concrete, soil and aggregate.
We strongly believe that timely, effective communications are essential to the
satisfactory progress of construction projects. Testing and inspection services
are managed and scheduled by senior personnel reporting direct to a principal of
the firm. When needed, we can quickly mobilize our geotechnical design and
consulting services; we are experienced in working with fast track projects
and recognize the importance of project schedules and deadlines.
About TTL
The newest addition to the TTL family was finalized in January 2007.
TTL acquired Nashville-based Geosciences Design Group (GDG), a provider of
geotechnical engineering, materials testing and site
evaluation services in Tennessee and Kentucky.
Since our inception in 1964, TTL has grown from a small testing company
to a diverse professional engineering consulting and analytical firm. With over
200 employees working from seven offices across five southeastern states, TTL
has the resources and the expertise to assist clients in meeting the challenges
of the 21st century. TTL's mission is to help our clients achieve their
goals. This long term view of keeping the client first has allowed TTL to
manage growth while adding and developing expertise. TTL is proud to have
