Environmental Services

Geosciences Design Group, LLC is a major provider of site related environmental services in the southeast, and the performance of Phase I environmental assessments represents a very important part of the total scope of services provided by our company. We have personnel that are experienced in performing environmental assessments for sites in many different geologic and cultural settings. The considerable environmentally related experience of our engineers and geologists allows us to offer basic, site-related, environmental services efficiently and economically, especially when combined with a routine geotechnical scope of service. All of our assessments are conducted by registered engineers or registered geologists with substantial experience and training in the recognition of potential environmental hazards and liabilities. The scope of a Phase I assessment typically follows the guidelines established by ASTM E-1527 (Standard Practice of Environmental Site Assessments: Phase I Environmental Site Assessment Process). However, some clients submit work scopes established by their internal staff or by their financial partners. We attempt to comply with all reasonable requests to provide the level of service needed for a specific project. Through a network of specialized individual consultants we can quickly assemble a team capable of supplementing the routine tasks with additional inquires regarding the occurrences of such features as wetlands, archeological and cultural resources and endangered species habitats. Our goal is to serve our clients and to provide them with the information they need to make decisions regarding property investments.

Often, property assessments must include a survey of existing structures for purposes of asbestos and lead content. We have environmental professionals trained and certified to sample and analyze facilities for hazards related to asbestos containing materials and lead-based coatings. When abatement of these hazards is required, our personnel can design and monitor the abatement process. Certified designers or supervisors prepare all asbestos or lead abatement projects. Projects prepared by our designers have varied in size from abatement of single structures to complete modernization and renovation of large HUD complexes with 480 units that were completed in Phases over a period of several years. Our experience includes providing these services for both unoccupied and partly occupied structures.
