Geology Services

Geology is the study of the earth and its natural history. It pertains to the solid minerals, fluids and gases that form the earth’s crust and the natural processes that bring about changes in those materials through time. At Geosciences Design Group, LLC, professional geologists use their academic training and considerable experience to provide better understanding of how subsurface materials and geologic processes affect the design and construction of various types of facilities, such as tunnels, dams, and deep excavations. Geologists also provide insight to concerns of erosion, landslides, and karst (sinkhole) development.

We perform hydrogeologic studies to examine ground water conditions that can be impacted by landfills, quarries and other large developments. The goal of such study is to assure protection of valuable surface water and ground water resources and to avoid undesirable consequences that could stem from improper site utilization.

Our geologists direct exploration and research the existence, quantity and quality of natural resources, including limestone aggregate sources, natural sand and clay deposits.

At no other time in history has Geology played such a critical role in solving global problems of energy needs, fossil fuel consumption and protection of natural resources. Recent headlines describing the casualties of earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, landslides and tsunamis speak clearly of the need to understand and deal with these geologic hazards.
